  • Last year the Food Bank of Yolo County distributed over 2.7 million
    pounds of food. Thats equal to 77 semi-trucks full of food.

  • The Food Bank currently serves over 70 non-profit agencies in Yolo
    County. These agencies include shelters, soup kitchens, school
    programs, food pantries and many more.

  • For every $1.00 donated to the Food Bank we can provide $14.00 of
    food to the hungry in our community.

  • Our Moveable Market program distributes fresh fruits and vegetables to
    low income families at 18 sites throughout the county.

  • The Food Bank acts as a distribution center, providing food to non-profit
    agencies, food closets and congregate food programs.

  • Eight of ten Americans underestimate the number of our children
    suffering from hunger.  Only 14% know that one child in eight goes hungry.

  • One out of ten families in California – many working-class families – will
    use an emergency food bank at least once this year.

  • Of the total number of homeless in the Sacramento region, 36% are
    families with children and the number is increasing annually.

  • In 2006, hundreds of volunteers donated over 7,300 hours of volunteer
    time to the Food Bank of Yolo County.  This volunteer time is valued at
    approximately $144,000 dollars.
